Default check engine lite

Have a 2003, 4x4, quad with the 5.7 HEMI, 50,000 miles. Ever since we bought it, we've had multple problems with the check engine light. Mech thought it was the fuel cap, then thought it was a fuel line. Changed gasket on fuel cap and fuel line, light came on after about two weeks. Today the wife tells methe engine throttle control light came on briefly, but then went off. However the check engine light is still on. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

Did he tell you what codes were coming up, or just started throwing parts at it?

Just threw parts. He's a pretty honest small shop, but I'm not sure he can really diagnose the true problem.

take it to advance auto or autozone and have them hook up their code reader, its free. Ask them what the actual code numbers are and post them on here maybe one of us can help you narrow it down more specifically

I tried that, it didn't like me, I just use my superchips to read/reset. Funny thing is, haven't gotten ANY codes on my Dodge, I had to use it as a code reader on my wife's Liberty!
