Default Aftermarket amp Installation

Hey there, looking to install an amp/sub combination in the quad cab and I'm keeping the stock radio w/ sirius and no infinity. Has anyone installed an amp in a quad cab and used speaker level inputs from the rear door speakers? This seems to be the easiest way w/o having to use a line output converter to go from speaker to rca. Thanks!

I liked having the idea of keeping my stock cd unit too, I installed a line converter by pulling the input from the rear left speaker, (without cutting the wire - cause that would just be silly) Since the line is right next to your drivers seat, I placed my amp and the converter under the seat. Ive found that when you have alot of bass, you get better quality with the low frequency rca input rather than the high frequency of the speaker lines. But I guess if it is all coming from the speakers, its all the same anyways. I just dont have a speaker line in to my amp, just rca. As far as any other way to do it, Ive not found one, maybe someone else here knows the jedi way though.
One thing I was interested in was cutting the Sirius antenna at the back of the radio in order to wire it into a Sirius dock. Maybe I will save that project for another day.

Um yeah, dont listen to the other ramblings...jesus...

What your thinking is a great way to do it if your not replacing the deck. Just look around for a decent amp with high-level inputs and your good. Im assuming you know how to run power-ground-remote to the amp and what supplies you need.

yea this is how mine is set up. I used the high level inputs on the amp. i amped the front door speakers though as i repalced them with compnents and then also have a sub under the rear seat. I love it as no one is the wiser with the stock head unit but when ever i turn it up everybody is like damn man th is stock??? its plenty loud with 800watts. id also invest in sound deadener. WORTH it on all aspects. makes driving the truck so much nicer and realy really helped increaes the bass and the sharpness of the stereo set up. Best damn $100 i spent on this truck to date (bilestiens are the best 250 ive spent also)
