i need help please!!!
I have a 03 Ram V6 5 speed, love the truck, dont see any difference in my truck than my brother's Ford V8...but, I had to take it to the dealership to replace the catalytic converter and ever since I have had this problem which I thought was the PCV valve, didn't fix it so now I am thinking it is some type of exhaust problem. When you push on the gas it goes but it sounds like it is revving high, i have lost some power, it almost acts like the clutch is going out but its not. It is kinda hard to explain but almost sounds like it is getting too much oxygen. A buddy of mine at work seems to think it is an exhaust leak after he heard me drive up, but my husband took it to a friends shop and they dont seem to think it has anything to do with the exhaust. I hate these new cars with all the computer crap! It makes things so much harder to work on. Please help![:@]
Does this happen in the morning or all the time? It has happened to me on my 2005. Early in the morning, when its humid, I hear the engine revving more than it should even though I am not accelerating. It goes away after a few seconds. To be honest with and Ihave toagree with HighDuke on this one, but you have better chances in posting this problem in the 3rd Gen forum rather than the V6, just cause it is more visited. Good luck with your prob and yes, computers make it hard, especially with these mechanics that only depend on it.
You mention having the the converter replaced; why? If it had its guts blown out, the next thing downstream is the muffler and often the guts from a cat will plug the muffler. That causes back pressure that slows the vehice; the more gas you give, the more it holds back. Eventually an exhaust leak will form somewhere as the pressure will find the weakest areas like gaskets.
