Anyone added an extra grab handle?
Just wondering if anyone has added an extra grab handle/"oh ****" handle above the door in their truck? My wife's X-Terra has handles both on the A Pillar and above the door, and it makes getting in and out of it pretty easy for me (I am currently in a wheelchair). Though I can get in the passenger side of my truck alright (it ain't pretty...but I can do it), my strong leg is my left leg, so I believe that getting into the driver's side will be a bit tough without a handle I can pull directly up on.
Has anyone done this or had it done? If so, what all is involved? Is it structurally strong enough there to support pulling my full weight (+/- 200lbs)? Thanks!

Lose the panda outfit and things should get easier....
lol....jk
Really though, I thought about this too. Mainly to keep people from hanging on the doors. I haven't found anything though. I too had a vehicle that had handles above the door. They were awesome.

Here are some ideas that make me seem like i'm off my rocker... But roof racks and a rope... Looks dumb.. may help... Or if you have the handle on the other side.... just tie a rope to that one... that might also help... sounds pretty dumb... I know... Hope your search ends well...
Nah, not off your rocker. As it is right now, when I am up on my prosthesis and crutches, I use a step stool to get up in the passenger side! I figure that I will have to use it to get in the driver's side, as well. This is just something that I'm going to have to deal with if I'm going to keep this truck. I'm ok with that. I just need to find something that works.
Hmmmm.... That could be a viable option. I've seen them in catalogues and stuff, but I've never really looked at them before. I'll have to see if I can't find something on them. It's a 2005 that is lifted 3". I was going to look for some steprails that actually stuck down and out far enough to be useful instead of just decorative, as some seem to be. I'm still going to need to get another handle put in above the door, though.
Someone said that the '07's have handles above the doors inside? Anyone got a pic? I'll have to go look on the Dodge website and see if I can get a good look at it. Perhaps I can get the OEM part from the dealer so it will look pretty good....

AWESOME! That looks like it will be just the ticket!!!! Thank you, everyone! That would sure beat pulling out a step-stool every time I stop! Now, I just need to find some pricing on it.
So, no center grab bar on the '07. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be able to come up with something. Thanks again!
