How to check my rear end ratio
The sticker in my glove box is not there. i have a 05 1500 with a Hemi. I just bought it. I had to have the tow hitch installed, and looking at the paper from the place I bought it they have it listed as a 3.21. I've never heard of that. Can that be right? Anyway to check using the VIN to make sure? ALso do all 1500's have limited slip?
i've never heard 3.21, you should either have 3.55, 3.92, or possibly 4.10, no not all 1500's have limited slip. If you want to find it by vin you can go to dodge and use the contact dodge feature or stop in at a dodge dealer and have them print out a build sheet or you can go out and it should be stamed on your differential
I sure hope you are right. I went from an 04 4x4 Chevy Duramax to this 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton. I was really concered because my computer is saying I'm averaging 19.8mpg on the highway and I have a 22ft boat I have to pull..the reason I went with the Hemi. But if I have a 3.21 rear end and no limited slip then its worthless. I went and peeled out (i have to say this truck can spin the tires at will, I'm very impressed..almost as quick as my chipped duramax) anyway I left 2 sets of tracks when I peeled out on the straight away. So I should have limited slip right?
Glad u left the dura***community, although i'm surprised you didn't go to a cummins since you previously ownd a diesel. You can estimate the gear ratio by spinning your tires for one revolution and seeing how many turns the driveshaft makes, very crude way but if there no sticker on the diff itself or the glovebx
yes most likely, just look down on your rear end, i can't remember if its on the axle or the actual differential but theres a tag and it will say your gear ratio and if you have lsd it will say it after the ratio. Do you have a big horn edition or anything like that? If you do its more likely you have 3.92 gears instead of 3.55
