Default RE: Highway vibrations???????

So I took my truck to the dealer today to check the vibration. Two mechanics took it out to test drive and one told me it could be the driveshaft, then the second one told me it was my muffler. He said to remove the muffler and putthe original and to see if that fixes the problem. I tried to tell the them that it wasnt there before with the new muffler, but it was no use. They insisted to do the muffler thing first and see if it continues. Luckily, I bolted mine on, so I will bolt the original back on today. The service guy started giving me the warranty voidance about aftermarket parts, I did not have time to go into the whole Magnuson-Moss Act with him so I let it ride. I even mentioned to the first guy about these sites and what everyone is going through, nothing.
Finally the service guy told me that if its not the muffler that they will have to diagnose the truck and they will keep it for up to 3 days. I thought they had a centralized system to look up this stuff.
He also recommended a $129.99 fuel injector clean up and my differential service just went up $209.95.
What do you guys think?

Also, what is a two piece shaft? or two part shaft? They mentioned that too.

BS it would be the muffler.

Did you check your halfshafts for play?

Is your rear diff front seal leaking?

Those were sources of mine in the past, and have been resolved.

Is yours in the steering wheel or more so in the floor?

On the recommended dealer services, you can pick up a bottle of fuel injection cleaner for $5 and the rear diff service you can do yourself if you can change your own oil.

Thanks Mini,
I know its BS, but I will just do it to prove that they are talking ****e. I will check the shaft tonight when I change the muffler. The vibration is the whole cabin, from the floor to the steering to the seats.
Which injector cleaner do you recommend?

My vibration was the whole cabin as well, I could push up on the pass. side halfshaft and move it all around like crazy. My driver's side was tight, with little play. They replaced the pass. side entire assembly and the small spline coming out of the front axle.

I use Chevron stuff with Techron in it every oil change.

You clean your injectors every change of oil? Is it necessary?

Probably not, but I'd rather keep them clean.

I buy a 4 pack from Costco for $10.00 thus paying only $2.50 each for them

So my truck was dropped off on Wednesday at Maroone Dodge Pembroke Pines FL where I bought it. They told me that they need two days to diagnose what is wrong with the truck. They had the truck all day yesterday and when I called, the service guy told me that they think it might be the transmission, and if that is the case "you will be out of a truck for a long time", exact words. What the f? I told the guy that the previous mechanic told me the driveshaft, that is a 2 piece and that might be the problem. He got somewhat rude and said "hey, I am just telling you it might be, they dont know yet". A whole f'ing day, to just tell me it might be. SO now I have to call at 9am today and get an update. I am so f'ing sure they will tell me no news. Only cause I have warranty, I swear.
Dont they have a centralized system where they all put in their problems and solutions across the US. What the f? we have the internet and they cant share their information like we do in these forums?

Tell us about your tire's and wheels .Are the up to the proper air pressure. Have they got any flat spots on them or are they out of round. You may want to have your wheels checked. it only takes one bad pot hole to screw up things. .Tires can cause a lot of vibration problems. Last year I bought a set of four tires and wheels from the Tire Rack. The car rode great until 60 mph. Then I couldn't hold the casr on the road. They were re-balanced a couple of diferent times. Finally I sent them back and they sent me four new one's ,No more problems. .
