Question about towing with MDS.
Next week I'm driving to pick up a boat. about 300 mi one way. When I am towing my trailer ( About 400 lbs empty) do I need to enable the tow/ haul or just drive normal. Also on the way back. Boat + Trailer will be at the most 900 lbs...
Just pay attention to the truck... the Hemi has plenty of power... but if puling that trailer make the truck seems real sluggish... then enable the tow mode... if not the truck will be fine...
That is not much weight at all. I wouldn't engage the tow/haul. I drive around all day long with about 500-700 lbs of crap in my truck. I carry medical equipment, parts and tools every where I go and I have no problems.
I didn't think I would have to use the Tow button. Just wanted to get a second opinion from people that have towed before. Wasn't sure if the weight not being over the rear axle would make a difference or not. Thanks for the feedback.
for that much weight you dont need to, the only thing is if u turn tow/haul mode on you will disable your MDS. I always drive around in tow/haul mode cause I dont like the way the MDS sounds with an aftermarket exhaust lol.
You might get lucky and find with that light weight trailer that your mds will kick in even though you are towing. Try it out with Tow/haul off, and if you find that the performance is lacking, change to tow/haul mode. That's a fairly light weight, and you may end up finding that you got good gas mileage on your trip if mds was able to engage with that load. (Keep it under 65-70 if you want mds to engage, I've found over 70 mph mds does not engage as often.)
