Flowmaster 70 Series on 06 1500
New to the forum and a first time Dodge owner. I have an 06 Ram 1500 Quad Cab that I'm slowly wanting to make right for me. I am having new exhaust installed on Thursday and am leaning toward the 70 series flowmaster angled split dual exhaust out the rear. After looking through the forums I noticed that almost everyone is either running the 40 or 50 series. I don't need a whole lot of sound. A low rumble when it is at idle is perfect for me... no need to wake the neighbors. Has anyone heard a 70 on a similar truck?
I just had the 50 Delta Flow installed today and I'm very happy with it. It's not overly obnoxious at all and unless you smash the throttle, the exhaust note is very subdued and tolerable. I'll take a sound clip with my phone and upload it to my exhaust installation post a.s.a.p for ya!

Taken with my LG CU500 cell phone so the quality isn't great. A DAT recorder would be better.
Keep in mind the sound isn't properly reflected in these wav files. The startup emits deep rumbling bass and as the engine finds its idle she has a smooth flowing growl you can't really hear or feel in a wav file.
(look for "DOWNLOAD FILE" in upper left hand portion of the download page)
Remote Startup and idle: 1 foot away from tail pipes:

In the cabin with a rev:

Hope this helps. Honestly I think the 70 series would be too quiet for the cost. My .02.

I have a 07 Dodge Ram 1500 with a hemi and just put a 70 series Flow Master , dumped them out the back and turned them down at the bumper and just love the very low rumble and hardly no noise inside the cab, roll the window down and you can really hear a nice low rumble, I love it, but I'm 65 years old and don't want too much noise, good luck Lakeozarkman
the 40 series is NOT as loud as most seem to make it sound. My 60 yr old father just put a 40 on his 06 with MDS a few weeks back........ and I have yet to see what all the fuss is about.
Not only is it not loud under normal use, there is no highway "drone" to his truck (we drove from Tampa to Ralleigh a few days after the install).....and when the MDS kicks in, it's only noticed if you are 'listening' for it.
He says that it does take a lighter touch on the gas to get the same momentum...so that's a plus.
He did remove the rear resonator as well...leaving the front one.
You wouldn't "wake the neighbors" with a 40 unless you happened to be the jerk that races in and out of his driveway.
My 05 Sport with OEM exhaust is nearly as loud as my Dad's new SI/SO 40 series setup.

Just got the 50 series put on my Ram and think it's a little too loud inside the cab. I talked to the guy who installed it, he said to drive it for a week and if I still thought it was too loud he would swap it out for the 70 series. Thanks for all of the advice.
Hehehe...I drove home from the office tonight with the radio off most of the way, enjoying the sweet rumble and growl of the beast. I exited a few exits early due to a tie up, and took the long way around to my house, smoking two F-150's, making one of them jump when I floored it beside them! The lawyer chick in the BMW Z3 wasn't too fond of me either for that matter! Keep the 50! I love the sound!

FYI, I had the 70 series on a 2500 with the 5.9... not the identical setup - but here's the results.
1.No drone - none of the typical cab noise associated with the 40 series
2. Some level of noise at heavy throttle.
3. Hissing backed up exhaust sound at full throttle (towing uphill for extended periods of time)
I love the flowmaster sound. I had the 50 series on a grand cherokee with the 318 V8 and it was great. The wife's LT1 vette has dual exhausts with 40's. Because of the stock resonator - her system is pretty quiet. But it has that nice low rumble at idle.
I currently have the magnaflow muffler on an otherwise stock exhaust with my newer 2004 Hemi. With the stock resonator - it's tame. more tame than the 70 series. I might take off that resonator sometime soon.

After driven with the 50 series on for one whole day now I think I may keep it. I love the sound, it may be a lttle louder than I was wanting, but I think I can deal with it. And.... my wife loves it!!
