Ok, here's the deal. I went to work this morning and everything was fine, I go to lunch and the truck is running fine as well. I get into the truck to come home, and I notice that the speedometer is out, and the ABS and Brake lights are on. So I pull over to do a quick check. As I get back in I notice that the defroster is on. Now I cannot get the switch to change from defrost to vent and the A/C will not come on as well. I can adjust the fan speed on the instrument panel. So heres my problems. A/C wont turn on, cannot get switch from the defrost to vent or any other choices, speedometer is not working, ABS/Brake light is on. I have checked the fuses ( I did it kinda fast) and did not see any blown fuses. Did I miss something? What else could be wrong? Please someone help me with this.

Somebody has mentioned before that the speedometer/ABS/brake light issue was fixed by replacing the speed sensor. It could also possibly be a bad instrument cluster; I've seen a Durango with screwed up speedo/panel lights/temperature controls. It seems that some Dodge vehicles use the instrument cluster as the controller for everything connected to the information bus.

 

the lights and speedo sound to me like the speed sensor. As for the defrost, i'm not sure i guess i'd pull out the hvac panel and check for any lose or shorted wires

 

I think I would disconnect the battery for a few minutes first to see if it just needs to be reset. If after that and the problem is still there, run it down to autozone and get it scanned to find out the codes

 

Yep........I agree with Gone Fishin.
Try the simple stuff first like resetting the PCM by pulling the battery.
Then, if codes/faults don't clear, run down and get them scanned by Autozone.

OK......I replaced the speed sensor in the differiential. That didn't fix the problem. The Brake/ABS lights are still on. I went down to the local parts store and they received the code P0501. I think that is the code for the speed sensor. Did I miss something? Where should I go from here?
