Default Loose Grab Handle

Yesterday it was 85 outside and even hotter inside the Ram when I opened the door.
As I grabbed the Oh Sheet handle to pull myself up the handle came loose. Didn't fall off or anything, just seemed to come away from the windsheild pillar. I'm pretty sure the heat softened something up and now it doesn't want to poop back into place. How are these things held on? There are two small covers on the handle that look as if there might be screws behind them. How do I get them off without damaging them?

On my old truck all you needed to do was pop off those little covers and tighten the bolts. I used a plastic headed screwdriver that I use for repairing electronics. This did not damage anything. Try to find a sturdy flat plastic that you can get in there and pop it off.

Yay.... you said poop. Yeah, it should be an easy fix. Use those little eye glass flat blade screwdrivers, they will do the least damage.

I had the very same problem inherited from someone who previously owned the truck and damaged the grab hadle.
It was VERY loose!
I had to replace the whole pillar moulding as theplastic screew mounting bosses, were snapped and cracked behind the pillar.
The pillar also has two locating tabs with metal clips. These push into the truck body to secure the pillar before the screw/bolts tighten.
Remove the two bolts as mentioned above and gently pry/pull off the pillar.
Examine the back of this pillar around the bolt bosses, to make sure they're not cracked/damaged.
If they are, replace the plastic pillar as you DON'T want this to come off in your hand as you try to get in now do you ???????
I bought mine while I was on vacation in Florida, atSorenson and Schade main Chrysler dealers just outside Haines city on hwy 27 south Lake Wales Fl, for $26.
I believe you can get them from any main Chrysler dealership.
Not bad and I only waited 1 day for them to get it in stock.
IU must say that Sorenson treated me very well.
I thought it was well worth the price and I got a 100% reliable grab handle.
Hope this helps.
Al.
