RE: platium plugs, how you like yours?
I was at the dealer today for a leaky rack n pinion and a 30k 28 point tune up. They had to order the parts so I will be back tomorrow. When I told the dealer rep I wanted to change the plugs to platinum myself, he told me it wouldn't help and I'd need to run premium gas after that. I have not heard of this. Is this true? If I change to platinum plugs I have to run premium. Common sense tells me if I want performance I run premium, not plugs.

Ive got the single electrode bosch platnums in my little yoda (anything more than one electrode is only a gimmick BTW ) and I dont have to use premium but seeing as it is an import 4 banger there could be a few differences, but I dont see why you would need to run premium when chaging over to platnum plugs. all they offer is lower resistance and since most have a smaller surface area at the electrode it means a more intence spark for better fuel ignition.
now while 93 octane will give you more performance, if you want to stick to 87 and put in platnums, it'll give you a bit more pep that wont run you 20 cents a gallon over 87.

Running Premium fuel in a vehicle designed for 87 octane will not make a bit of difference unless you change timing and some tables in your pcm. The higher the octane the more timing you can run. I run Autolite platnums in my 5.2 and I run 87 octane unless i put my performance PCM in. Most people I talk to don't like using platnum plugs and just get a copper plug one heat range colder than stock. That will help prevent detonation.
