hemi ignition conversion
I've seen on a few sites that have a conversion for the 03-06 hemis that changes the crossover ignition to the newer one where the coil sits on and powers both plugs on one cylinder. the kit usually comes with the coils and the new composite valve covers. Anyone out there try this conversion and does it seem to be worth it? Also, for anyone who has tried it, do the dealerships frown on doing the conversion? I"m slowly trying to get the look of the new 6.1 hemi, hopefully someday installing a full stroker kit and this would be my first step. Any input or opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Henson Motors put together a kit, but it isn't a factory part number kit. It requires some solder work. Maybe some day I'll get around to it, but the $45 I spent for Taylor shorties versus the $315+ for the kit was well spent. I figure it won't matter if I either a) install 6.1, or b) install 6.4. They both have the straight coil setup from the factory.
yeah, i've looked into shorties also and will probably do those first since they are alot cheaper. I just eventually want to do the complete ignition mod as was wondering if anyone had tried it in here yet. looks like it's going to be a real pain in the *** to do since dodge decided to put the engine so far back in the new trucks. If you've changed your plugs yet you know what I mean.
