trailer plug in dead

Default trailer plug in dead

I have a 2003 ram 3500 that the trailer light plug ins (both) are dead. checked fuses but no problem found.... is there a main fuse or breaker to control this? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks, Brian

Did you try to see if you actually have power to the plug? Use a test light and probe the ends, using a good ground. If you have power to the plug, it could be a bad ground, going off that you have no problem with the fuses. Has it worked in the past and it has just become a problem now?

yes it has worked in the past..checked with test light at the connector (using good ground) and have no power on the 7-pin or the 4 pin either. i find it odd that both went out...wondering about a relay, breaker or master fuse just for the trailor lights. nothing else on the truck is wrong. dont have a good wiring diagram but I may have to come up with one... Yes, the trailer harness has its own fuse(s). Both the 7 and 4 pin connectors went out at the same time because they're connected to the same circuit.

The owners manual doesn't shed any light on fuse location but the underhood fuse cover will give you the details.
