Does anybody know?
Are you supposed to disconnect your battery for a short while when you get a new exhaust installed? Supposedly so your computer can notice better air flow and thus make changes to the air/gas mixture or whatever? I think I read this somewhere and my co-worker asked me this when I told him about my new exhaust.
Disconnecting the batter will not reset the temp trims in your pcm.
I can't believe how many guys keep repeating the batter disc thing on different forums because they read it from somebody, etc.
I know the following is true. With my turbo and tune, I had to be able to reset the pcm all the way, not just the radio, LOL!
In fact, I'm installing a pcm reset switch in the cab so I don't have to open the hood in the rain.
To do it so that you properly reset everything is to leave the battery connected.
Buckle the driver seat belt (to get rid of seat belt chimes later)
Remove the PCM/SKIM fuse in the fuse box.
Put in key and turn it to start and hold it there until you hear 2 chimes.
1st chime is pcm reset, 2nd chime is tcm reset.
Replace fuse.
The first time you start it after doing this, it may take a second or 2 before it actually cranks.
Regards.
