Default Dodge/Goodyear warranty ????

First, hey everyone, I'm a proud new Dodge owner. First brand new truck too.

Anyone have warranty issues /experieince with thier tires. I ended up with a small slit in the sidewall of the drivers side front tire, and with my expereince from my Yukon, i just went to Les Schwab ( never had any issues with them) They couldn't repair it so i then went to Dodge to get the dan thing warrantied, and come to find out that they don't warranty tires for road hazards. isn't that some bullSh!@@## . Goodyear dealer wouldn't do it either. Said that when you buy the vehicle you have to go to a tire dealer and purchase a road hazard warranty. So does nayone have any advice or experience i can draw on, besides throwing back a cold one and saying f!@#!#!it two drops in a bucket?

Sorry man, that's a standard tire warranty. If you can prove that the tire was manufactured wrong and it split that's one thing. If you hit something or something hit you, that's not their fault.Think about it, theirproduct didn't fail, why should they cover it? On the other hand, I'm the third owner on my Ram and I blew a belt on an HP, had some steelstrands start coming thru the tread. Went to Goodyear and they replaced the tire with no question but they did pro-rate it50 percent 'cause the tire was worn 50 percent. half-off is better then nothing off.

That is normal. The only time you can get a warranty on a tire is if you buy road hazzard when you buy tires from a reseller. And yes, you are correct, a sidewall hole is not repairable due to the heat generated on the sides of the tires.

Actually when I bought my 2007 it came with a tire Road Hazzard warranty. But let me tell you its not worth the paper its printed on.
I had a screw in my tire pretty close to the sidewall, my Dodge dealer took one look at it and said it couldnt be fixed.
Now mind you when I bought this truck the finance guy told me I would have the road hazzard and if any of my tires became unrepairable they would be replaced at no charge.
Well he was partly correct, I do have a road hazzard warranty but the warranty company pro-rates the tire. So long story short, the tire that came off had 8/32 and a new tire has 13/32 so the warranty company deducts for the difference. So I would have had to pay 190 bucks all said and done for the new tire, mounting and balancing.
So after a rant a rave in front of all the customers about how bad I got screwed and how it was bull crap that I have to pay and what good does one new tire a 3 worn tires do for me.
I got 2 new tires, mounted and balanced for 150 bucks out the door.
Not a bad deal but I still felt ripped off.
Not to mention they invited me back into the shop area to watch my truck being repaired and I was standing next to the balancing machine when they removed the damaged tire and I noticed that the screw was a good inch and a half away from the sidewall, so I grabbed thet guy and told him to look at it and he agreed that it could be repaired after all. He asked me if I wanted him to fix it instead and I told him hell no. 2 tires out the door for 150 bucks.. ill go to Tire Kingdom or something and have this one repaired for 10 bucks and keep it as a spare.

moral of the story..... NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU..ALWAYS READ THE WARRANTY PAPER YOUR BUYING...DONT TRUST THE FINANCE GUY......

oh, and dont go to the dealer I bought from... if this thread goes farther I will reveal the name of the dealer here in Central Florida.
