used truck values?
has anyone bought/sold a used ram lately?
i'm lookin to sell my 04 1500 and get a 2500/3500...and i'm wandering if the used values were anywhere close to what kelly bluebook has. i've looked on autotrader and see plenty of trucks for sale, most w/ in a $1000 or so of kbb, but i don't know if they are actually selling for close to that or if they are having to come down quite a bit. i know it's a bad time...tough to sell a 15mpg truck w/ $3.00/gal prices, but what the hell, it's time to upgrade.
i've done the k&n cai, magnaflow exhaust, rancho shocks...a few other little things...anyone know if this stuff helps sell a truck or are people just thinking it was used as a "wanna be hot rod"
thanks for the input

i dunno about a ram but when i bought my new ram i traded in my 07 f150 and i bargined my way into giving me the full price of the truck when i bought it 19,500 i thought if they really want me to buy this truck they'll do what they can so the truck they gave me was worth 34,500 dollars with 19,500 with 6000 dollars rebate and with a down payment i got the truck down to 9795 dollars..... i bet you all wont believe me but gods honest truth im not lieing.
Rams right now are holding there value pretty good compared to the other guys. However, right now it is a buyers market. The buyer is pretty much making there own prices when shopping. Dealers are dropping the Ram almost 10k just to get them out the door. What you have done is good, only a true truck person will appreciate it but you can't count on them to increase you price, you can only count on them to help you sell it quicker.
Diesels are better at maintaining their trade in value then any of the gas jobs. Aftermarket addons do nothing for the value, so if you have the stock parts, put it back in and sell off the other stuff on Ebay. I have removed aftermarket head units that cost me $700and replaced them with a $40 Walmart H/U because I got rid of the stock unit... all they care about is the hole in the dash has something in it. But, because they need to move vehicles, the dealership may break you a good deal.
when you trade a car you get no extra money for any add ons or aftermarket parts. When you sell a car for sale by owner you also do not get any money for aftermarket parts UNLESS you can find a buyer that is looking for what you got. An example would be a 6" lift with mud tires. Most buyers do not care about that but if you can find someone that is looking for that they would be willing to pay over blue book for the aftermark stuff. You just have to be patient and find the right buyer if you want to get your money back. If I were you I would put the stock stuff back on and sell you aftermarket parts here or on ebay to get some of your money back.
