I didn't and now its not looking to great. I'm going to try that. So let me get this right. You just sprayed that on, then waited 24 hrs. And then spray painted it black?

Well, I went an extra step and sanded the ruff spots smooth (400 grit) wiped it down let it dry and painted it. It's all good.

when you first got the truck didn't you get it under coated to prevent the rust from apearring in the first place its not that expensive.

I've never really heard of anyone having the rear end under coated, the cab yes.
Seems like itmight make it hard to remove the differential coverwith a rubberized coating on it. Prolly don't want to get undercoating onthe U joints either. Just my guess.

Pappy, I noticed that with only 8 months on my truck my driveshaft seems to be more rusty than one would think. I'll grab some high temp paint and spray it on my driveshaft. I'll put some ospho on before I paint to neutralize the rust, either that or mother's milk. The only worry I have is how will ospho or mother's milk react to the heat coming off the exhaust.

Edit: Typo

The best rust remover I've ever used is Evapo-rust. Non-toxic, no acid, etc. Won't hurt rubber, plastic, etc. either. The only downside is that whatever you want to remove rust from must soak in it. Hard to do with a rear diff. I have seen someone set-up a tray and a recirc pump and constantly "shower" the rear diff. Amazing crap, works awsome on hardware, bolts, brackets, etc.
