Mega Cab 1500 question
Hello all, I just bought my first Dodge. An '06 Mega Cab 1500 4x4 w/ the Hemi. It had only been on the road for 7 months and only had 10,795 miles on it, so I consider it to be basically still new. I had been looking at brand new ones, and the salesman was explaining that the 1500's had a 3/4 ton frame under them. After I got my '06 home, I noticed that it also has the 8 lug axles, so I am assuming that the entire frame and running gear are 3/4 ton stuff. My question is this: If the frame and axles are 3/4 ton, what exactly rates this truck as a 1500?

I've verified that the shocks and springs are the same as a buddie of mine's 2500 quad. The only problem is towing/hauling weights. Tow more than 7300lbs and it would be illegal whereas the 2500 could tow 8250 I think it was, 10k if you've got the 4.10gears. Course I hope you didn't buy a Hemi to tow some heavy stuff, not what they're for
I'm becoming very well informed on this new pseudo1500, so let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for the info. I figured someone would know the difference. I just don't understand why the difference in capacity.Unless they just did it on paper cause some people don't want a 3/4 ton truck. No, I didn't buy it to tow heavy loads. My Jeep on a trailer is the heaviest I will pull at about 5k lbs tops for the whole set up. The more common load will be the trailer and 3 atv's.
