OK I'm looking to buy my first fullsize truck and I've found a RAM 1500 QuadCab Sport SLT 5.9. Black with leather etc. Truck has 94k on it and the price is $13k. Is this an ok deal? What should I look for as trouble signs etc? Can I expect this truck to last 4 more years without transmission rebuilds etc?

I do plan to tow some with it. I have a Jeep Rubicon that will be on a 2 axle bumper pull trailer with brakes on 1 axle. This truck should handle this I would think.

Any modifications I need to make for towing? How hard is it to hook up a brake controller to these guys?

13K sounds like a decent price, not great by any means though. If you want to pull that rubicon often i'd consider a diesel. You may also want to look into the Hemi, you'd only have to go 1 year newer and can probably find one for pretty close to that price. I had the 5.9 in my last truck and thought it was great... til i drove the hemi. Now it feels like a dog!

 

oh and on the brake controller question, mine has a connector right under the dash, just plug and play!

You are towing an 07 Jeep with it? Is this a trail rig? If so, post some pics.

Is the 13k stickered or negotiated? Dealer or private party?

My jeep is an 04 TJ. Jeep07 is a name i have used since like 93 when i first got a computer Anyway that is the asking price is private party. I think I could get them to 12k maybe 11 since i have cash.

However I just agreed to buy a toyota as a base for my new ftoy project. good times.... I have a sell pending on a car that should go through saturday and after that I start seriously looking at rams. Yes the Hemi would be favorable but i'm trying to stay below 13-14k.

Yeah... I would spend the money for the hemi, you won't be disappointed... beautiful jeep (wish mine had an engine right now). What kind of beadlocks are those?

 

DIY weld on rings. I need to pull them and bend an anti coning ring.
