Superchips Improves Shifting?
I am loving my new ram, but I'd like to have better control over shifting. If Im on the highway and get on the gas, it downshifts once and then a second later when it realizes I really want to pull, it downshifts again and takes off. I think the truck would be much faster if it shifted quicker.
How much does the superchips improve shifting? Also, how much does it improve 0-60 launch? According to the 0-60 calculator http://www.060calculator.com/, a Dodge ram with 345 hp and weighing 5000lbs should be 0-60 in 6.6s. I have read around 7.9s is what the stock truck gets. So theres got to be another second hiding somewhere and I'm guessing its the shifting.

I have the flashpaq with the most recent update. The shifting is what makes this unit worth while. Power increases are not noticible, but the shift points sure are.
It goes to 2nd gear around residential 90* corners without flooring the throttle. It won't shift from first gear till 2300 RPM regardless of throttle position.
Mostly - it holds gears longer and downshifts more redily than the stock programming.
I like it.

We just put installed the performance setting on my dads 04 today. Shifting is the big difference we both noticed more than the power gain. His truck has a totally different feel to it than my 07 with the six speed. I still think my six speed launches faster stock if that makes any sense?
Shift points are adjustable to make the best use of the engines power. The stock 5.7 stops producing power around 5800 rpm or so, so to go any higher before it shift will show a drop in HP if you looked at it on a graph. And with the Hemi's, the tranny is already shifting at the highest pressure so you won't get a firmer shift.I think that all you are changing when you select "91 Performance" over "87 Stock" is the advancing or retarding of the timeing...
