Default Hello all, noob here

Hello,

I'm new to the Dodge world, was considering a tacoma or tundra, but when I saw this sweet deal on a dodge 1500 hemi, well.... I picked one up last weekend. I've never owned a truck, much less know anything about one other than the fact that I can carry a lot of stuff with one. I come from smaller sports cars, imports, euro, etc. This is my first truck, and also first Dodge or american car for that matter (excluding the GMC Safari that I learned to drive in...) So bear with me on some of the terminology and noob truck questions.

2007 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad-Cab
2x4
-5.7l HEMI
-Anti-Slip rear diff <---- does this mean it's a LSD?
-floormats
build date 05/07
MSRP of $31,870
SALE PRICE of $18,995

Truck will be used mainly to haul stuff around and make deliveries around a 50-mile radius... I'm into tinkering with things and I know this is going to be a BIG tinker-able toy for me over the next few years. so first things first...

Performance chip and the "multidisplacement" HEMI motor...
-the the 4-cyl shutoff actually work? and under what conditions? will having a chip affect this? I've noticed that a lot of performance chips for any car actually improve MPG by tuning the engine to run slightly more lean under low load and "Cruise" conditions, but will a chip affect this 8->4cyl switch?

Suspension
-not really interested in lifting the truck since I think lifted trucks on small stock wheels looks stupid... but i am not about to but huge tires for a delivery truck. I also think a lowered full-sized truck looks funny as well... but I DO want t firmer suspension with less body roll... suggestions? upgrade shocks? urethan mounts? some leaf-spring gadgets? I noticed the truck has HUGE swaybars already, do people get even bigger ones?

Interior
-Sound System... anyhting else fit under the rear bench other than the overprices (IMO) Q Logic stuff? or am I just out of luck on a sub enclosure...

Exterior
-where do I find a swing out bed-extender or ramp-extender hybrid cage thing?... I've seen them before, but now that I'm looking for one, I can't find any for the life of me. Also, I need a bed cover that's easily removeable, seeen the Toneau covers. Are those the only one's available?

Thanks!

Welcome to the dodge forum. I'm all for leaving my truck stock for the most part. Somebody here will pipe in and tell you more about any upgrades. Enjoy your truck. Red
