Has anyone used Lightning Audio???
i used lighting audio in my second car since i was poor and in high school. I was actually pretty impressed with it. It obviously wasnt great, but what i paid for it, hell i was beyond satisfied!
stock h/u not a problem. Do you have a PDA. check out RF 3sixty processors. or the JL audio Cleansweep. both are basically just a little box that can be placed anywhere in the car and they act just like an aftermarket head unit. They have their own preouts and everything for speakers. bascially a aftermarket head unit that can be hidden away so no one knows you've got a killer system. the rf model when you have a pda you can wirelessly adjust the equalizer for each speaker. I think it was wireless but mebbe you had to have a cable. 99 percent sure on wireless. they are really trick pieces. then all you need is a good 4 channel amp for your mids and highs and a nice monoblock for a sub or two in the rear. Depending on if ur a sq guy or want loud will determine your choices as far as amps and speakers go.
Nice, did not know about the interface products. I am looking for something to sound clean, I listen to everything except opera. rap, classic rock, heavy metal, country, oldies. I like a little of everything. I was thinking of mb quartz all around and jl or diamond subs. amps, not sure. Are the pioneer kevlar speakers any good?
Pioneer makes great stuff too. In fact unless they got beat they hold the world record for loudest car system. I believe it was 180 db some guy did a while back with pioneer subs. at 180db it can kill you if you are sitting in the car listening to it. I find that rather cool. plus it's in the realm of a shuttle taking off.
Mb Quarts are great stuff. Although they just got sold to a diff company so who knows about that. but i'm sure they'll quality will stay there. although if your a SQ guy my suggestion is definately JL audio. They are a bit more pricey but their SQ is amazing.
My suggestion would be to use either the RF or JL processor. I think the RF one is a bit more advanced since you can wirelessly do everything. Not sure if JL's can but mebbe. I havn't looked at theirs in a bit. then use four sets of quality component speakers. MB Quart, JL audio, Pioneer, Kenwood, Focal makes some good stuff. O and Polk makes a great speaker. I have them for 4x6's and 6.5's and they sound great. Run those four sets on either one four channel amp or two two channel amps. Two Two channel amps will give you more adjustability with your speakers which would be somehting you want. Then I suggest a JL sub. depending on how much room you have in the truck, I dunno how big a sub you could go. but generally one sub gives a tad bit better sq then running mutliple. because you get slight and i mean slight interference between the two subs and they are always a tiny tiny tiny bit out of phase with each other. This really makes no difference unless your competing in SQ competition. Since you liek a little of everything I suggest going with somtheint like a JL 12w3. 12" sub has 400 watts rms power handling. I would stay with 12" because any bigger than 12 you will lose some of your performance in the higher frequencies ie rock, heavy metal. not much but some and with 10's or 8's youll lose it down low for rap. 12 is a good medium. Run that in a ported box and have th port tuned to about 35-38 hz. I prefer lower but that's because I don't listen to as much rock as I do rap. I still like rock but i'm more into rap. If all you liked was rap i'd say 30-33 all you liked was rock i'd say 40ish. The ported box gives you a bit more output as far as decibels and IMO ported has a much smoother sound. Sealed is a bit punchy which is great for rock but a ported box tuned slightly higher will be louder and do just the same with rock and it will work at lower end too. If you can take a pic of behind and underish of the back seat on that truck and I can give you a better idea of sub to use. as for amps i'd say RF because you get mroe than what you pay for. but the JL amps are great too.

I put LA 6x9s in the back deck of a 92 accord I used to have, ran it off of the Wal-Mart VR CD/MP3/WMA player wit the USB plug in the front. I put some 5.25 'Bazooka' speakers in the doors. It sounded pretty good. For a 92 accord. I wasnt trying to win any contests, but for the money they have pretty decent setup. I think I paid 29.99 for the 6x9s and 14.99 for the 5.25s at pep boys (closeout).
IT IS WHAT IT IS
If you are looking for cheap speakers that are better than stock, no reason not to go with em. If you are wanting to impress your friends down at the dairy queen on saturday night you are better of going with another brand. I have always had good luck with Pioneer and have always gotten good prices. The LA speakers have a huge magnet and would probably not fit in the door anyhow. I had to remove the trunk supports on my honda so that I could get the speakers to sit down flat.
Ebay is probably a better option, but you may want to find the speakers you want, for depth and clearance and all, before buying. You dont want to get a sweet deal on some speakers to only find out that they make your doors look pregnant once you install them.
I got a pair of 12 year old Kicker Subs and a Fosgate amp that still hit like a sum-beach.The only subs that I had that were better were JL Audio. One day I will put some of that mess in my 05, but for now I am just riding dirty....well the truck is dirty anyways.
