Low idle
There's a base idle setting that's controlled by the computer. It's not as easy as just turning a screw, any more...
I read this and it got me wondering....I looked at my 2002 and sure enough, I idle at 600 while in neutral or park, with or without a/c on. It's never stalled, but I can see how reprogramming is a cure.

yeah damn marietta dodge told me that my battery cable was loose and they fixed it under warranty but it still idles anywhere from 500-600rpms. tampakenny, i agree that it idles pretty rough when at 500-600 rpms. I want to find a fix but if its not going to hurt the truck its not that big of a deal as long it doesnt stall in and intersection
I've had my '06 Mega Cab Hemi about a month now, and it idles at 500 with a/c off and in drive. 600 in N or Park or with a/c on.
I too was concerned and don't like the rough idle, so I took it to the local Dodge dealer and the service guy there told me it was normal for the Hemi's and it was the EGRvalve opening and closing. He said you won't notice it under load or accelleration and I told him this was so. I guess we all just live with it.

I have a 2005 Ram 1500 4.7 that I bought new, it started this same problem probably about 9 months or so after i got it. I've been to the dealer with it a few times and they say that there is nothing wrong and unless a light comes on there is nothing they can do. It has stalled on me several times, yesterday I was about a foot from being hit by an oncoming van becasue it died on me in traffic. It's stalled 5 times in the past week. At start up it will idle around 700 RPM then when i go into drive it goes down to 500, and then it will shutter a little and shut down. The only way i can stop it is if i can gve it enough gas fast enough to bring it out of it. Over the summer it happened much less (i live in florida) - I suppose having the AC on ups the RPM's a little and that kept it going, so i guess i could just leave the AC on all the time. The dealership claims to have never seen the problem before, so i already know they're not being honest. I suppose Dodge doesn't want to spend the money to fix the problem, I cannot believe that they are unaware of it.
With that being said, has anyone found a real fix for it? I've flashed the computer and cleaned the throttle body and neither did a thing.
