Since I put on an Airaid CAI last week, I have noticed a noise that sounds like an air-operated valve opening and closing that I never heard before. It is not the sound of intake air coming through the filter or intake tube.

I'm guessing it is either emanating from the throttle body assy itself, or perhaps the brake booster. And if so, this noise was muffled by the factory airbox.

While it is just a little annoying, I'm more concerned with ensuring there is nothing wrong with the installation. I re-checked the entire intake system yesterday and everything is tight. BTW, this noise only seems to occur while driving at slow speeds or during acceleration from 0-30 mph, but not at highway speeds.

 

I get a loud air sucking sound out of my intake, but that is only after I let off the gas at any speed. That's the only time I hear it and it only lasts a couple seconds. Sorry to be no help, but maybe somebody else knows what you're talking about.

 

well when you took out your stock airbox there was a tube that plugged into the top left hand corner. that is a breather tube for the exhaust( i believe i could be wrong but it is a breather) anyways when you let off the gas it is letting all the backpressure out of the system. when i hooked up my new cai it had me plug that tube into the intake tube itself instead of the airbox, i only hear it when i let off the gas when i am comming to a stop when my exhaust is not as loud. but its normal. but dont take my word for it i could be wrong. ( ive just had that on every car and truck ive owned that had intake system.)
