Installed intake now engine ticking
I know, just the fact that he put in higher octane and it went away makes me wonder if it was bad gas or not enought octane with a given A/F cuasing detonation. Could just be the EGR like some are saying ( I just have never heard what that sounds like).
Yeah I work at a Case tractor dealership and they all have cummins turbo diesels in them, so i know how inportant it is not to have any intake or exhaust leaks. The TB spacer is on right and so it the AF sensor. I think i might have gotten some ****ty *** gas b/c after putting 93 in it. It ran like a champ on my way home from work. But I will give you guy an update tomorrow when its cooler than 90+ degrees outside. I am going to stick with 93 octane b/c 91 is nowhere to be found around me and the price differance between 87 and 93 is only 17 cents a gallon.
Well ticking (i dont want to call it knocking) was there on my way to work. It was not as often, server and loud as the day before. This morning, it was 75 degrees with alot of dew on everything. I think everything is good with it but this is they 1st time I have every had a V8 with a CAI on it, so this is new to me.
If the EGR tick is bothering you, a user on "Hemi Truck Club" forum, manufactures a stainless steel EGR baffle. Dozens of guys on that forum have purchased from him and ALL report that it either gets rid of the tick completely or at least dampens it to where you have to really listen for it. I think he sells them for $20.
I have his name, address and I think his email address I can pm you with.
I was going to get one, but the more I thaught about it, I decided that the EGR tick is there whether I baffle it or not, so why should I impede the air flow I just spent money on to un-impede?
I got a buddy with a K&N with a black plastic tube, and although you can hear the tick, it's nowhere near as loud as myK&Nis with the shiny metal tube.
