Default Upgrading Brakes on 2004 Ram 1500

Hi All, I need brakes & am investigating my option on upgrading them. Does anyone have any thoughts on upgrades & whether they are worth it or not. I am looking for ideas on who to go with also. Thinking about vented or cross drilled rotors & better pads. Thanks in advance for the feed back.

Default RE: Upgrading Brakes on 2004 Ram 1500

I own a 2002 with 38K on it. The brakes felt crappy when I bought it, meaning they just felt weak. The rear rotors looked pitted (buck shot is more like it) and I wanted to feel better about my ride.

I looked at drilled rotors, and slotted rotors. I ended up just replacing them with the better Raybestos rotors, and Raybo's Lifetime warranty Semimetallic pads. The brakes felt 50% better.

What made them feel 100% better was the replacement of the old brake fluid and adding fresh, dry fluid. No matter what rotors or pads you use, do yourself a cheap and preventitive favor and replace the fluid in your brake system..
