Default Headlight issues

Hopefully someonecan help out with this one.

I installed a snow plow wiring harness. When I did I got a lamp out warning light. What happens now is that when I go from low to high beams only the passenger side will light up. I thought I blew a bulb in the process, so I bought a new bulb, but that is not the problem.

Now I understand the wiring harness is the issue, but here is the kicker....I unplugged the harness and put everything back to stock......The lampout light is still on and I still have only one high beam. The low beams and foglights work fine.

I have heard that I need to take it to the dealer and have the headlight module reset........since my truck is out of 3/36 warranty I have heard it will run me between $45-$90 for this service. Is anyone else having headlight issues or have had to get their module reset????
