Default Drag Break In?

Ok, the 07 Hemi has about 3500-3600 miles on it...already did the first oil change. Other than kicking in the ponies to enter and exit freeway ramps, I haven't really had to 'get on it.'

So, we went to the drag races this past weekend, and of course, saw quitea few street racers go out. Now I am itching to see what the truck does, but was curious to all of your opinions on break in.

Should I wait until 5k, 10k? I don't 'dog' the truck and definitely don't want to get it off to a bad start red lining the tach running down 1/8 mile strips. Any opinions on the appropriate break in mileage before consistently hammering down the throttle consistently on runs?

Thanks!

lol....I hear ya.

Yea, I had around 5k in my head as a general rule of thumb. Well, I will see when we are able to make it out again and see where I stand. I will plan to video it if I go (especially if I run well, lol)....not sure what the schedule looks like for the next couple of weeksthough.

Not to be too far off my own topic, but what are the general times and mph for 1/8 and 1/4 mile tracks in these trucks. I know driver skill has some to do with it, but am curious to what you guys think. I have the K&N CAI and Flow Super 40 dumped underneath..... Other than a programmer, these are about the only engine/performance mods the truck will see.

Thanks again.

yeah i never really broke my truck in...i mean i drove it pretty easy for the first 1K miles or so, but after that it was ***** to the wall hammer it down all the time...i mean come on, ya got a hemi lol......

i ran my truck at the track one night back home, it's a 1/4 track...drove there and got right in line so truck was completely warmed up when i ran it (bone stock) and i ran a 15.87 and a 15.75 ...woulda ran quicker if it was cooled down i think but meh, hell it's a truck not a drag car

The manual states 4000 miles for breakin. You ask some car guys and they will wait until 2 oils changes (6k to 10k miles) due to they want to make sure everything is sealing not leaking.

Great info guys....really appreciate it. Well, I guess the verdict is in. When I am able to make it back out, I will scratch the itch.

Other than dealer inconvenience and the hassle of a messed up truck, I am on the same page on driving it(harder) now under the warranty....but the best point is 'it's a Hemi'....like the engineers knew we would wait to romp on these things?lol

Seriously, I love the truck ans want it to be strong for years to come...but from the majority rule in this thread, the truck sounds ready to go.

Thanks again everyone.
