Flickering Engine Light
Hey guys I have a 2003 Ram 1500 4x4 Hemi. I have been noticing my check engine light flickering for the past couple months and the other day it finally came on and stayed on with a p0441 code. When it would flicker it would just do it every now and then for just a flash and it would catch your eye. I reset the PCM and hooked up a new Purge Solenoid temporarily so you can not tell that it has been installed so I can still take it back. I cranked the truck and let it run for a few minutes and the engine light does not come on but it still does the flickering everycouple minutes. When i reset the PCM with the old purge solenoid the check engine light doesn't com back on until about 60 miles. Any ideas. I'm stumped.
I know that P0442 is usually a loose or worn gas cap. Not sureif P0441 is in the same category, but I do believe it has something to do with a vaccuum leak? If no one has responded by tomorrow, I'll go out and get my OBDII book and look it up.
I know this does'nt pin-point it... but may head you in the right direction....

just whent thougth this a few weeks ago,it was the gas cap, but my code was po442,a po441 is a small leak,a po442 is a medium leak, maybe the gas cap maybe not,it is worth a shot
I've replaced the purge solenoid and gas cap. I've also inspected the lines from the purge solenoid to the throttle body and from the purge solenoid to the evap canister. Could it be the leak detection pump? Why would it flicker for a while before it actually comes on? I did notice a crack in the filter before the leak detection pump but I sealed it up pretty good. Could there be something messed up inside the filter that i couldn't fix by sealing up the crack?
I have the same issue as you. My truck is an '03 4x2.
Originally, it would flicker. Periodically, it would stay on for extended periods. When I scanned, it would be either a P0440 or a P0441. Tried changing the gas cap -- did nothing. I changed the leak detection pump and it has not caused the extended period check engine light to come on any more. However, the flickering light is still there.
To be clear -- it will flash real quick -- like less than a second. It usually does this about once a minute. Once in awhile, it will stay lit for maybe 10 seconds and then go out. I've driven around with a scanner hooked up and tried to read codes when it stays on, but it does not record anything.
Has anyone else experienced this besides us two?

P0441-EVAP PURGE FLOW MONITOR
When Monitored: With engine temperature greater than 170° F, fuel control in closed
loop, engine idling for 2 minutes, no low fuel, MAP less than 15.7 inches mercury and
barometric altitude less than 8,000 feet.
Set Condition: After having passed the Leak Detection Pump (LDP) test, no air flow
through the evaporative system is detected by the EVAP monitor.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
EVAP CANISTER
VEHICLE HISTORY AND SERVICE BULLETIN INVESTIGATION
WIRING HARNESS INTERMITTENT
EVAP PURGE HOSE (CANISTER TO FUEL TANK)
EVAP PURGE HOSE (SOLENOID TO CANISTER)
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID VACUUM SUPPLY
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID (LEAKY/STUCK OPEN)
EVAP PURGE SOLENOID (STUCK CLOSED)
So it looks like from that it has to be the Evap Canister since i've checked the Evap hoses and installed a new purge solenoid. What is the vehicle history and service bulletin investigation?
