1,400 RPM at start up.....
When I start my truck at any time thru out the day with the engine warm or cold, she idles at 1,400 RPM and then slowly drops to 500 to 600 RPM after close to a minute. Is this normal for a ’07 with a hemi? I only have 3,300 miles on her. Thanks. Red
My 07 has been doing that since the day I got it. It had 3 miles when I got it, so I assume that it is normal. In fact, I think there is a reference in the operator's handbook regrding the high idling RPM when you first start it
mine does the same but probably only takes 15 - 25 sec to drop to normal.
PS it seems to drop faster since i switched to synthetic oil ?? ( probably my imagination )

I'm amazed at how often this comes up on almost every vehicle forum out there. All cars I've owned since the early 90s did exactly the same thing as part of their normal warmup routine. Has everyone gone from owning an 80s vehicle to a 2000s vehicle without owning anything inbetween? Foreign, domestic, car, or truck - they all have a "warmup" high idle mode.
Carbed vehicles have a warmup idle too, so I don't see why this behavior is so mysterious to people today.

Exactly. I have owned many new trucks since 1988 and the high idle on this one just seems to be lasting longer than what I am used to. I never paid attention to it until now. I’m glad to hear others are experiencing it also. I feel better. Red
