My family sedan Subaru Legacy makes about 275 whp and 280+ wtq and has only ~ $500 in mods. A lot of people wonder how a car that looks like a Camry with a hood scoop can run 13.0s in the quarter [8D]

It will soon get some real mods, including a larger turbo. I'm shooting for 118-120 mph traps and a stock-looking appearance.

I think there are quite a few opinions about what headers are "best". I know the Pacesetters that I purchased were the least expensive ceramics I could find. You'll get more gains with long tubes but some states have very strict emissions laws. The long tubes may cause you to not pass... A lot of guys with long tubes pull out their cats. As for the Y-Pipe connection there are several options. You could go true dual... replace the Y-pipe, get high-flow cats, weld your own X-pipes. I wouldn't waste time putting on headers without gettting an aftermarket exhaust though.

I'd certainly do a full aftermarket exhaust but I was hoping for something that'd be doable in the driveway. I can't weld so it'd have to be all clamp / bolt-in from the headers back. I just didn't know if that was a possibility or not.

Just kidding, I lived in Vidalia for 10 years, and Coffee County for another 4.
But seriously, a little 110 Mig/Wire Feed wouldn't be a bad investment, wire feed welding is so easy, you could teach yourself in about a day, on scrap metal, and be good enough to do an exhaust. It's nothing likeSTICK or TIG. I GAS weld real well, my stick welding is OK at best, welds hold great, but can get to be on the ugly side, and I'm slow. I've never tried TIG, but understand it's a bit*h. But I could make welds withthe wirefeed look like a roll of nickels laid out within 4 or 5 hours after taking it out of the box. One of the best $300 investments I've ever made.
