Default Tranny Question

I have a 2006 2500 quad cab with 5.7 hemi 4x4 with the auto transmission. Question is about the overdrive button. I have heard that you should turn it off when driving in the city or other areas where it can be gear hunting.I live in the country wherethe speed limit is 35 mph which leads to a road thats 40 mph and eventually we get to 50 or 55.The dealer says just drive it, but whats best for the transmission? I plan to keep this truck until I can't afford to put gas in it anymore. Thanks

Just leave it alone. Nothing will happen. The OD will kick on only when you are at a steady speed for a period of time. The engine will think that you have reached cruising speed and then go to the best gear for the gas mileage which is OD.
