'06 Ram 5.7 with displacment exhaust question
I have an '06 Ram 1500 with the 5.7Hemi with displacment (MDS)and haveadded cat back dual exhaust a few months ago. I haveflowmaster 40 serieswith 3" in and 2.25" out, both front an rear resons removed. I love it on normal drives in the city and highway but the truck seems to have lost low end tourqe when climbing now when towing our trailer. Living in colorado and camping in the hills, we have lots of limbs and need to know what would the best replacement muffler be to gain back the back pressure to getthe low end tourque needed to pull at full potential, the same as it was when the truck had the OE exhaust? Any suggestion would be welcomed.
I have contacted my exhaust guy now that he is back in town and he called Flowmaster on this issue. Come to find out, they make a Delta Flow 50 series for the larege MDS engines to elimnate the low end tourqe loss but still gain the MPG and HP.
I have sinceswaped out the mufflers and all it great, Inow tow in the mountians with no issues andnot to mention, I still have the get-up and go power and sweet sound that I wanted.

I think it it sounds alright, nothing like the Flowmaster 40 series I originally had on there. I actually had to specifically listen for it and didn't notice then difference until then. Another thing that my wife likes is the cab sound is much less..... of couse that is until you punch it.
It nowactually a beefier sound too.
Good thing that you switched to the 50. I did not get to see this post, but the 40 was designed for the true duals. If you were running one 40 muffler with a single in single out or even a double out, then you would have ran into alot of problems. Glad everything worked out.
