I don't know if gas tanks have a bleeder valve. Probably not and if they don't their is probably some air trapped inside the tank. Ever try filling up a water bed? You can get some pretty big air bubbles in those bladders. Just my 2 cents but I think it could figure in for a gallon being lost but not much more than that.

If you look at the top of the fuel tank on both 3rd gen and 2nd gen Rams
it has a 'hump' at the rear designed to trap air.

Some of the Cummins Diesel Ram guys have added an extra vent tube
to the top of their tank hump
and have reported that this allows a few more gallons to be put into
the tank.

This is probably safe for gentle highway driving
but if you are going off-road
or into extremes of air temperature
you should remember not to fill the tank all the way after this mod.
