Word!! 13.8 in a QC with a "crappy" 6.1 cam and towing an 8000lb trailer on the weekends.

I don't pull a heavy load at all, before I sold my 19' bass boat, it was the heaviest thing I pulled and it was about 2500lbs., boat, motor & trailer. But the gears made it feel like nothing was there, and I got about a 5mpg dropoff with the stock 3.92's. There was no real difference in towing that boat with the 4.56's, maybe 1mpg.
Without towing the 4.56's actually give me about 2mpg BETTER around town with my 35" tires! Moderate (2 lane) hiway mileage at 45-55 mph is about the same and on Interstates I have about a 1mpg loss up to about 70mph, then it will decline after that to about 2mpg cruising at 80.
The power pulling hills and easing the load on the tranny is well worth the 1-2mpg trade off and I think you may actually see a gain pulling a load with 4.56's over your stock gears.
MAKE THE JUMP TO 4.56'S -- DON'T FEAR THE GEAR!
Besides your "butt dyno" will love them!!!

Had 2 questions for you... was wondering what the short belt mod was that you did, not to sure what that is. The other was did you have to change the carrier in the front of your truck when you put in the 4.56's?

The short belt is a belt that deletes the power steering and A/C at the track and frees up around 8-10 hp. Mine is a 2wd so I didn't have to worry about the front.

3rd Gen 1500's have chrysler (AAM) 8" front, does not require carrier change for 4.56's...
Just remember to order Chrysler 12 bolt 9.25" for the back & 8" for the front...

trade in the 4.7 for the 5.7, then do some modding and upgrade gears if still needed.
