395/85/20 = 46.43" tall tires. That is freakin huge.

Yo purdueranger, do you have that tire calculator saved or did you figure it manually? If you've got it saved, can you post a link?

did it manually. 395/25.4 *.85*2 +20 = 46.43"

395 is the width of the tread and that is in milimeters. You divide that by 25.4 because that is how many mm are in an inch. after that then you have the width in inches and you multiply that by the sidewall aspect ratio, 85%. You take that number and multply that by 2 because there are 2 parts to the sidewall that make up the diameter of the tire. then you add the 20" rim into the equation and you have your answer.

Minus the bead and you have a set of 44" tires.

Those are military tires for a Light Mobility Tactical Vehicle or LMTV. These are the militarys new version of the 2 1/2 ton truck. You can go to military auctions and buy these tires or go to Boyce Equipment sales out of Utah for them. Those tires weigh in at least 125 pounds each. Then he was probably mud running too. Wow that is redneckin at it's finest. He needs to cut the fender out more for those to work and maybe get a Dana 60 axle upgrade.
