Default programmer

i just bought an '07 quad cab 4.7 flex fuel 4x4 and am thinking about a programmer. my first priority is MPG and power is secondary. i use it as a daily driver and to pull my 4000 lb trailer on the weekends. i'm not looking to burn the tires up or set speed records, just to gain a little more low end.
i want the MPG and if i don't gain power then that is fine. any suggestions? i don't want to void my warranty. what kind of increases should i see?

Search the topic. This is a very popular question, on this forum.

I don't have a programmer, yet. But most of them allow you to save your factory settings. That's the first thing you should do with it. After you have made the adjusments, with the programmer, all you have to do is re-load factory settings before you take it in for service. No voided warranty.

All programmers leave a footprint in the powertrain control module. Even if you restore the factory settings, the diag tool can stilltellthat a programmer was installed and removed. The few if any MPG increase is not worth the risk..

Do they care about the footprint? Is that enough to void the warranty? It would seem to me, that all they would care about are the factory settings.

Thanx, for the info. I did not know about the footprint.

Not 100% here but aside from the search function or lack thereof, I don't believe there is a programer for the 4.7l engine.
