The spare tire junk under the truck is a royal PITA when you've got a flat in the pouring rain, been there. I ended up stripping out the square lug on the lower/raise **** on the spare tire as well as the handles for the jack as well. I solved that problem and the spare tire mount has a padlock in case someone tried to steal the tire.
