Ok guys I have had the Superchip Flashqaq for some time now. I was using the regular (87) setting but now I am using the Super setting (91) and I have noticed that my MPG has gone up, by 2 mpg. I am sure if I dont get into the backend to much I could see even better results. Has anyone seen this with theres or heard of this? Maybe I am just messed up in the head (well more messed up than normal) but I think the extra cost in gas will more than make up for it by spending less in the long run. What do you guys think?

 

Makes perfect sense, even on the SC forum, they are stating you will get the best MPG with the performance tune. The "Economy" tune is a little mis-leading, it basically lets you run 87 octane safely. Among other things the Perf Tune advances the timing and leans out the mixture, both of which would net you out better MPG.

 

I have seem some really good improvments in mine. I am going to try my hardest and see if I can get 4mpg more.

 

I have noticed the same thing....I agree with the extra couple bucks per tank of gas for the higher octane, it saves in the long run with the better economy, and its better for you engine (i think?)....not to mention that it is much more fun to drive in this mode also!

 

Mine does the same. Even with my cam, I am getting 16 mpg combined city/ highway. Cany complane about the extra 4 or 5 bucks per tank!

 

I'm not sure what my highway mileage is with the 91 tune. Seems to get less over all around 19. I saw stock timing at WOT to 21 and with SC on 91 23 degrees. That's really weak. With low compression and 91 34-36 should be the sweet spot. The timing twister is the only unit I've seen that will increase over 30. What have yo guys seen of done to get more timing?
I'll be testing on a trip this weekend.

 

yeah i've gotten some pretty good mileage on the perf tune....i think, cant keep my damned foot out of it.....but i'm going on a 1000+ mile road trip this weekend so we'll get some good data and see how she did
