tortion bars vs. level kit
which is easier / cheaper? i know how to do the leveling kit a can get it all and install it myself under 200 easily .. what else would i have to replace if i crank the tortion bars? pleeaaase help
Please explain what the "leveling kit" is for a truck that has torsion bars. As far as I know there is no other way to "level" a truck with torsion bars, other than to crank up the torsion bars. I highly DO NOT recommend using an aftermarket torsion bar setup. You can safely crank the stock torsion bar keys, but stay away from the aftermarket keys. There are many reasons for this...
First you need longer shocks for the front, which will allow the front CV boots to contact the lower control arm and tear the boot.
Second, it maxes out the upper ball joints, and the grease boots will either tear if they are stock, or won't stay sealed if they are the aftermarket MOOG style.
I'm on my second drivers side axle in 13000 miles only because the boots keep tearing. Its not too much angle for the joint itself, but too much for the hard rubber boot. I've tried calling the "drive shaft shop" to see if they would sell me some softer boots but I have not got a response yet.
