I got a new 07 1500 QC 4.7, Looking for stuff
As the title says, I just recently purchased an 07 Ram 1500 QC 4.7 4X2. I love this truck as it is but I do plan to make a few tasteful upgrades. My question is focussed toward the other 4.7 guys on this board. Where can I get good parts for this motor? Are there any specific forums that I can check out? The truck is Brilliant Black and has the Thunderroad package.
My plans so far:
Bedliner (probably spray in)
Exhaust (Magnaflow maybe?)
Intake
Chip (what kind?)
Throttle body (if beneficial)
Thermostat (If beneficial)
Soft tonneau cover (Lo profile if possible)
Step/nerf bars
leveling kit
tint
Later on down the road:
Navigation (OEM or aftermarket?)
subs under the rear seat
HID's (no clue what is available)
Bull bar/brush guard (maybe)
Driving lights (on bull bar or inside grill)
Security alarm
That is all I can think of. If you guys have had experience with these modifications and know what to/not get and from where, that would help out a lot.
Thanks for your help,
David

I have an 2003 4.7L. I have heard the 70mm throttle body from BBK is a good throttle body. I haven't gotten the money to get mine yet but I am wanting to. I would recommend the Line-X spray bedliner because when you have to have it fixed, all Line-X dealers will do the work. Any of the others, you will have to go to the person that had done the original spray. I have the AiRaid Jr. Intake. I love it. Got to keep the stock box but got rid of the "muffler box" on the intake. Superchips has a tuner but it doesn't give us 4.7L much power. I am up in the air about chips. I am wanting the Jet Chip Stage 2 but I don't know if it will help much. I have heard that the Magnaflow exhaust has alot of drone inside the cab. I am thinking about putting a Flowmaster 40 series. (single in/single out) As of leveling kit goes, depends if you want the 4x4 look or a little drop in the back. I personally liked the DJM drop shackles. It gave my truck about a 1 1/2" drop in the back. The soft bedcover is good if you are still going to use your truck for haulin' stuff. I like the Undercover that is lightweight and easy to come off.
Well I think I have gave my .02 . Its all up to you on what you want on your truck.

That's great information. Thanks for that! I was thinking the same thing for the leveling kit. I can't decide which way to go, up in the front or down in the rear... I was considering the Rhino Liner but I will check out the Line-X as well. Do you know any other pros/cons between the two? I will consider the TB but 2mm doesn't seem like a very significant increase. Is there a bigger one available? I was told that the Magnaflow would be a good choice for quality in exhaust (All stainless) so that's what I was leaning towards. The soft top is a must because I will be using the bed for tall loads but I still want the cover for the rest of the time. I was thinking of the Truxedo LoPro. I think it looks sleek and would go good with my black truck. I am still contemplating getting a chip because I haven't heard very many pros when it comes down to the 4.7L, but who knows. Is the 180* Thermostat going to be beneficial when utilized with the intake, TB, exhaust, and maybe a chip? And finally the step/nerf bars are a hard one for me. I can get in the truck fine from the ground right now. Especially if I level it by dropping the rear I might not even need/want them. My taste is very sleek with minimal exterior visual points. Thus, the reason I am leaning towards the LoPro cover. Therefore, step bars that stick out far or are really big and bulky wont do for me. I guess I would have to look around for some pictures of different kinds and if I find a set that fits my taste (tight to the body, sleek but strong)then I will get some.
These are just my thoughts as of now which are subject to change with outside influence. As far as the performance mods, I am looking for good sound, better gas mileage, and a little more power.
For the other stuff, I want it all to be very functional but look like what I would call "stock plus". I like the look that makes people say "that looks good, there's something about it that I can't put my finger on, but it looks good!"
Any more ideas? Feel free to let me have it.

Navywings,
Welcome. Those are all great upgrades. There is a 4.7L performance thread I started with a tonof good info on it. I have some of your possible upgrades done on my rig and will post pics soon. (check my signature) When you get stuff done put it up on the 4.7 thread. I just leveled my truck today (front end up 2")and tires and wheels are on the way Tuesday. As for parts KRC is the best I've seen for Ram specific. Autoanything.com is a great site (free shipping, price matching and customer service)

HAWK,
I have seen and read through your 4.7L performance post and it has helped me out a lot. I am currently subscribed to it. I would love to see some pics of your truck with the front leveled off! And especially with the 35's. Congrats on that stuff by the way, it sounds like a nice ride!
Nasty,
Thanks for the info on the TB. I will def look into that and make sure. I have actually found that to be the case on a few things so far. It seems that the newest Rams haven't gotten into the aftermarket world quite as much as the last model. That obviously makes sense seeing as it's newer but I will have to look out for that on a few things. By the way, I love your truck man! That thing is looking good!
Thanks for the welcome guys. I look forward to owning this truck for a while and I love the continual upgrading. I actually own a 1998 Dodge neon with a built 2.4 swap and close to $12,000 in parts cost alone... So needless to say, I am into upgrading. I will be happy to keep you all posted and try and get some pictures up as it all progresses for me.
Thanks again

guys, throttle bodies are a waste, i gota 70mm for mine and i promise it did absolutely nothing .. i tihnk you'd need at least a 75mm to do anything at all even then it wouldn't be much, just a waste of money if oyu ask me
