in the middle of a project...pls help
Hey all, I rarley ask for help, especially in this sort of nature, being relatively easy for the rest of y'all, but here goes. I am in the middle of a leveling kit (coil spacers) for an 02 ram 1500 2x4. It took me 3 hours to get off the shock (ground/stripped the top of the shock when removing the top nut) and I am at the portion of the 'do it yourself' instructions (thanks to whomever put those together, especially with the pics...great help) that states that I need to remove the bolt from the upper ball joint/controll arm. I rented the pitman puller? and have had no luck. The picture in the directions (here, again the diy guide) shows to use the c clamp looking thing with the bolt/screw in the middle to push the bolt through, freeing the assembly. After trying this, I got three revolutions by hand, and that's it, even with a cheater bar. I talked to a friend of mine and she said to try the tuning fork looking thing and pry it off, being careful not to damage the boot. Well the boot is already totaled, and I stood and literally jumped on the tuning fork part (again with a cheater bar attached) and could not move it, in either position (jacked so the control arm was above parrell to the ground and below parrell<sp!>
Obviously this is not normal, as I have done several suspension mods to cars and trucks over the years, and have never run into anything like this...This truck, with every mod I have done, has been a nightmare...I purchased used (and really abused) but am putting her back together better than new...it's just a headache at every turn. I would really appreciate any help as to how to get this assembly detached without the use of a sledge (thus most likely ruining the bolt)...I have to be at work Monday (holiday, yea...welcome to my life as an engineer) and need to finish this "little" project by noonish Saturday to get an alignment in time to drive the 63 miles one way to work Monday morning...Thankx in advance...
