Default MPG Drop

I have a 2004 1500 Quad Cab with the 4.7L. I changed plugs, air filter and cleaned the Mass air flow sensor.....and my mileage dropped 3+ MPG. The motor runs great.Any ideas what I did wrong?

It needs to get used to the new stuff? I dont know really. I hear that the PC needs to relearn after new stuff is added, removed, altered. It could be. But someone else has to chime in to confirm.

Lol, you just gave your truck the ability to allow alot more air into the engine than was previously allowed. The computer sees this, and inturn adds more fuel to balance the air-fuel parameters, since the new plugs can ignite it as well. On a side/happy note? Disconnect the positive battery cable to reset your computer. After a few miles it willlearn byitself and you actually see an improvement over the previous mileage. Not a jaw-dropping improvement, but an improvement should be expected nonetheless.

Happy motoring
