Default Programming keyless entry

When I bought my truck, I was told that it had keyless entry but they had no remotes. I called the dealer and confirmed that it did have keyless entry and they gave me the p/n for my 2002 Dodge Ram. I then purchased the new remote but when I try to go through the programming instructions that is in the owners manual and nothing happens. Is this because I don't have an existing remote. And does anybody know how I can program this new remote without an existing remote. I'd apreciate any help.

Thanks
John

you need a tool that your dealership should have, called an RKE module.

The tool is called a DRB or DRB III, the RKE module is the "brain" box for the remote keyless entry system (RKE).
If you do not have a fob/remote that is already programmed, you must pay a visit to your local dealer or someone with a DRB.
