If you search, a pretty good link was posted recently reagrding a step by step procedure on how to do it. It included draining the torque converter via disconnecting a line....

Take it to a shop and watch them.... best thing to do... it is more than changing the fluid.... If you've coem to the point the fluid needs changed...well the tranny filter probabily needs changed too... and that required you to DROP THE PAN.... not changing the filter is like changing your oil and not changing the oil filter... why do it at all if you don't change the filter? If your worried about the shop you take it to.... take it to a reputable one... and not Joe's auto shop down the street..... and watch them.... no rules or laws say that you can't stand outside the bay and watch them work... it is well within your right.... When ever i take mine in i'm RIGHT there watching like a warden making sure they don't skip steps or half-a$$ do something...

Why pay to have someone drop the pan? I did mine a few months back and it was no problem at all. Just buy the new gasket and filter from Napa and you are all set. Takes like 2 hours max. I did my buddy's Silverado after that and that took a bit longer because I needed like 14" of extension bars to reach one of the bolts, lol.

Why would you need to babysit the mechanic if it was a reputable shop?

I have found that most of the time the "Joes" auto are the better shops. They need word of mouth to get new customers. Its the Big names that pay their techs 7 bucks an hour that you have to watch for.

I've done the service myself, so this might come off as a stupid question. But, why don't they install a drain and fill plug, so you can drain the old fluid, then refill it?

one other question. Does Mopar offer a Synthetic fluid for the Transmission? And are there any benefits?
