Anyone change their Heater control bulb?
My ac/heater control works fine. (all functions work) but it does not light up. is there a bulb and is it cheap and easy to replace? how do u remove paneling on these 3rd gen trucks? where r the clips? Should i take it in to dealer?
no one here in 3rd gen knows what the heater ac unit is? its below the cd player. It has 2 *****. one for temp and one for defrost/ac/air movement selector.
why assume no one knows what it is if no one has responded to your post? there's a phillips screw on the right side of the center bezel (below the vent) take that out and then pull the bezel off...as for changing a bulb or something like that, i dont know....havent had a reason to take mine apart cause mine works just fine
Ive replaced mine, go head and order the bulbs from Dodge, its the only place in the truck this particular bulb is used and not a stocked item by Dodge. Theyre 4 something a piece but replace all of them b/c once you put thenew ones in the others look dim. There are 3 of them. It only takes about 15 minutes to do.
1) Take the 2 screws out of the driver side bottom panel (below the steering wheel). Be careful the top is just plastic clips, so pull it straight out, no bending!
2) Take out the one screw above the hanger on the passenger side and pop the bezel off. Its all clips also. The hvac control unit is screwed to the bezel.
3) Use a small flat head to remove the little white backed bulbs. Once again be careful as the bulbs make their connection through the micro-board on the back so you dont want to damage the board.
Good luck -Josh

you dont need to take out the 2 screws on the steering column panel......just one more thing ya gotta do...it helps a lil bit cuz the centerl bezel goes under it but not really needed
