Default P0456. CEL Help!

Im getting a p0456 small leak. i just clear it with the Superchips cleared it like 4 times, should i really be concerned.?? The dealer wants to charge me again to do a diagnostics. I have paid them already for this and they never fixed it. This is why i got the programmer. Will this code hurt something major in the truck??I read in another post that it is a very small emmissions leak from maybe the gas cap or the evap canister or lines.

You're right, it is a very small leak somewhere in the EVAP system. It could be the gas cap, but more then likely it is a vacuum line somewhere around the EVAP canister is cracked, split, etc. A real PIA to find. Visually inspect them all and replace any that look questionable. It doesn't effect anything as far as engine performance, it's purely an emissions thing. In other words, some gas fumes maybe escaping into the air!! Mine comes on about once a month, I bought a $40 code reader to clear it and keep it in my console.

If you have a bud with a ram, swap gas caps for a week or so and see what happens. A bud of mine has that same problem. We swapped caps the other day and neither one of us is getting a code.

from my experiences at the dealership, it has always been the gas cap.....granted it may not be, but i would check gas cap first, then smoke the EVAP system and look for leaks
