I have a 05 Ram 1500single cab, jba headers, borla cat back, ground force lowering kit 2" front 4" rear, 22" rims and tires, and a whole lot of stero eq. My ? is was going to go supercharger but had some diffaculties with companys, I decieded to buy sts turbo, the shop that put it in here in town is now having some isues with the smt6 programer? they say if I run 6 to 7 boost i will have no problems with stock motor and trans? I also bought the methanol injcters? Did they see me coming? not really savey on mechanical. anyway any help would be appreciated. []

 

Seems to me that the Turbo gurus are the guys at KRC.

 

check back in a little while. kenihemi or hemifever will respond I'm sure. They both have sts turbos installed I believe. I have also heard that 6-7 psi is max on stock internals. I wouldn't floor it into a downshift any more though, the stock trans doesn't seem to like over ~325 hp to the wheels, with the weakest link being 2nd prime (the gear marketed as a smoother passing gear on downshifts)

 

A stock motor should not be pushed over 7lbs.

If you want to run over 3lbs of boost you need to cool the intake charge. Only way to do that is an intercooler or meth injection. Some turbo/hemi guys use both.

If its already tuned for 7lbs, you are good to go.

I hope it has larger fuel injectors and a 2BAR MAP sensor in it as part of the smt-6 tune.

 

Thanks for the info, I purchased methanal and intercooler. Joe at sts recomended both. And why would you not sell smt6? sts says its the best? What should I do with the tranie? as far as mods. Again thank you for your help.

 

You guys think you can post some videos of your turbo systems? I have been looking at STS Turbo and have been contemplating whether I want to get that or the Procharger. Video would be awesome.

You don't need any trans updates if you only do UPshifts under boost.

Under NO conditions hit it to where it has to go to passing gear under boost. That is what causes the failure in these trans.

There is a fix, but it ain't cheap.

As far as vids, there are some out there.

 

im just having some difficulty finding a video of hemi's out there with supercharger, or turbo charger applications. I've found literally 3 videos out there but they're all just a really short clip and I am wondering if there's a video out there with more indepth stuff. Under the hood look, some racing videos, etc.
