07 Ram 1500 QC 4x4! I would like to purchase some jack stands to lift one side of my vehicle up at a time for tire rotations etc! I have never owned jack stands. While shopping I noticed they come in different heights.

Cany anyone tell me what height the jack stands MUST be able to reach to get the truck in the air enough for tire rotations?? Brand recommendations would be great too! Thanks!

 

craftsman seems to have pretty good ones........ as for height, guess i'm not sure the big ones????? those are the ones i bought...

 

first things first. if you don't already have jack stands, then do you have a jackwith enoughlift to lift the truck? if youdo you cancheck your droop, then you would have the answer to your own question.

if you're near a harbor freight you can get the big ones dirt cheap. this time of year there are flea markets going around, so you might find a pair there.

Stay away from the Craftsmen 3 piece set with the trolley jack and 2 jack stands.. bought that for my 05 and was really mad I could'nt get the front end high enough to get the stands underneath.... so i decided to to bottle jack... But most jack stands are adjustable... they start at like what?... 10 - 14 inches? and go upto 18 I think? maybe i'm wrong... never needed a regualr sized stand up all the way...

 

for tire rotations i don't use jack stands. i just use 2 cheapo floor jacks, like $20 each, and jack up one side front and rear - swap tires, and then move to the other side and do the same thing. i do have several jack stands, just the cheapo's from walmart that probably have about 12" of lift.

 

yeah i saw that thing at sears. it's a pretty cool device. i wish it had more saddle options though.

one thing i forgot to mention. be careful of where the jack is made. those cheapo jacks from china or taiwan are widow makers. buy a good well known jack.
