04 dodge ram 2500 q cab 4x4

at 55mph to 70mph if i hit a bump on a bridge or from the road my front end begins to shutter very violently and i have to slow down to around 45mph to get it to stop. i have taking it to repair shops and know one seems to have a answer i have replaced steering stablilizer and front end shocks all three have been upgraded to heavy dooty.

any way please help it is very sad that this beutiful ram can only do 55mph done the interstate

Have you recently changed the power steering fluid or had work done involving the power steering pump. I've seen similar once before, chevy I think it's been years. Air got trapped in the power steering system and sometimes hitting a bump or pothole would cause the front wheels to shimmy if the air pocket was just right. Slowing down and half a turn of the wheel would temporarily correct it. Try bleeding it? Or is this the famed death wobble?

Do a search for threads about the dreaded "2500 series DEATH WOBBLE" there has been a lot posted about this issue.

I have the same problem but it happens at speeds as low as 20mph. At higher speeds it is undrivable. Everything in the frontend has been replaced, except for the springs. The other day while greasing the joints I noticed the springs were loose [ the front was hanging in the air] , the spring rubber donuts were compressed thin . I wonder if this is allowing the springs to hop?, this would also explain the clunk heard at every bump. When towing a heavy load or having a heavy load in the bed, the truck doesn't shake when stopping or hitting bumps. My truck is a 98 V10 with front/rear heavy axles and springs, it is hell off road or on road unless you have a big load.

I've been told that the Trac bar bushings are bad, you might give that a try, I did have '99 ram 2500 that did the same thing and the combination of Trac Bar bushings and a new steering stablilizer took care of the problem. Good Luck
